Exhibition and screenings - from 13.10–15.11.2026

Dance First Think Later is an exhibition/festival that explores the intersections of dance, performance, visual arts and the moving image. The participating artists are choreographers, performers, visual artists, filmmakers, or all of these at once. The heart of DFTL26 is Le Commun, where three galleries are devoted to the exhibition, presenting installations, videos, sculptures, drawings, choreographic scores and archival material, while a fourth space is dedicated to live performances. A large-scale video installation is presented in the lower-ground gallery of Villa Bernasconi in Lancy, while additional performances unfold across the Musée d’art et d’histoire (MAH), Studios ADC at Maison des Arts du Grütli, L’Abri as part of Emergentia, Concorde Espace Culture in Vernier, on the MIRE screens located in Léman Express stations, and in public spaces throughout and around the PAV district. The exploration of movement offers an exceptionally rich and ever-evolving field of enquiry. It provides a lens through which to examine the place of the body in the histories of art and dance, while also engaging with a wide range of contemporary issues, including politics, human relationships, architecture and the urban environment, migration, climate change, gender, food and technology.
