MuseOM#

The dancers of MOPS_DanceSyndrome undertake a five-day residency at the MAH, engaging in a process of research and composition led by choreographer Ela Franscella, before presenting the outcome of their work to the public. Created in dialogue with the exhibition Observatoires – Carte blanche to John M Armleder and the museum’s permanent collection, this new work unfolds as a choreographed journey that, like a ritual both ancient and contemporary, reveals the encounter and dialogue between the visual arts and dance.

MuseOM# is a performance that moves beyond technical virtuosity towards a spiritual dimension. Bodies in motion trace a spiral of new and singular expressions of movement and musical culture. The result is a choreosophy with an original live composition and soundscape performed by Michel Thouzeau.

MOPS_DanceSyndrome is a Swiss contemporary dance company made up entirely of young adults with Down Syndrome. An independent artistic and cultural project, it is unique of its kind in Europe and has been active for twenty years. Renowned for the artistic quality and professionalism of its work, the company has received numerous distinctions, including the Pro Ticino Prize (2018) and the Performing Arts Heritage (2021) from the Federal Office of Culture (FOC). Its repertoire includes 16 original choreographic productions (*choreosophies), 4 video art short films and two documentary films. MOPS_DanceSyndrome performs at international festivals and collaborates regularly with professional dance companies.
