“SCORES” OF THE PERFORMANCES PROGRAMMED IN THE 4TH EDITION OF DANCE FIRST THINK LATER (DFTL26)

A 10-metre-long display window offers an overview of the DFTL26 programme, presenting documents that shed light on the artists’ creative processes. The term “score” is used for convenience. Texts, source documents, notation systems, plans, samples, photographs, drawings, notes, gesture studies, definitions, storyboards, a deck of cards and stills from a film shoot are brought together to offer a glimpse into an aspect of the artists’ work that is rarely shown in theatres and at festivals.

This aspect of artistic practice was also explored in the symposium Movement on Paper – Approaches to Performance and Dance through Processes of Notation, Collection and Narration, which brought together 13 contributors involved in research programmes, publications, exhibitions and other activities.
