Construire un feu

La Tierce is a company run by three dancers and choreographers, Sonia Garcia, Séverine Lefèvre, and Charles Pietri. Based in Bordeaux since 2014, together they develop dance pieces in the form of stage works, performances, and various research objects.

In Construire un feu, five people come to an agreement about their inability to name what they are looking for. So to talk to each other, they put on shows, just as children sometimes do to share something important. They tell each other stories, they imagine things, they ask each other questions: how can we pretend to die (really)? Can you be the rain, the wind, or the landscape with your body? What did the first unison sound like? But above all: what happened that one day – or one night – someone made a gesture that had never been made before? A gesture that was not meant to say hello, that was not meant to help eat, sleep, keep warm, or talk to the gods… a new gesture to express something that could not be expressed any other way. And perhaps: has this gesture already happened or is it still to come?

For this first group piece, La Tierce and her friends will investigate and build a fire, i.e., come close together, keep watch, and try to get something to grow without understanding it. The aim is to create a play that could exist in any era, even those–past or future–about which we know nothing.
