Biography
For more than a decade, Vanessa Riera has explored textiles through a practice that ranges from recovery and repair to reuse, transformation and craftsmanship. Across all her projects, discarded materials are treated with dignity, while the cultures and traditions encountered through collaboration are woven into a practice rooted in human connection.
She works across a wide range of artistic fields and collaborative formats. Since 2018, her work has been presented in exhibitions at Villa Bernasconi, the Out of the Box Biennial, MEG – Musée d’ethnographie de Genève, Espace Labo, andata ritorno, Spielact at Le Commun, and Halle Nord, all in Geneva. In 2026, she took part in exhibitions in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, and at the MARQ Museum in Clermont-Ferrand. She has designed costumes for films by Claude Barras, including My Life as a Courgette, as well as for Albertine Zullo, Fred Baillif, the Fondation Cap Loisirs, Festival Antigel, and RTS. In 2021, she was one of the artists selected for the Résidences croisées, organised by the Hospice général.
