Biography

Ruth Childs, an Anglo-American dancer and choreographer, was born in London and grew up in the United States, where she studied dance and music. She moved to Geneva in 2003 to complete her training at the Ballet Junior. She has worked with Foofwa d’Imobilité, La Ribot, Gilles Jobin, Massimo Furlan, Marco Berrettini, and Yasmine Hugonnet. Since 2015 she has also been working on a project to recreate the early works of her aunt, American choreographer Lucinda Childs.

In 2014, she founded Scarlett’s, an association to develop her personal work combining dance, performance, and music, through which she created such works as The Goldfish and the Inner Tube with Stéphane Vecchione, the soli fantasia and Blast!, and her first group piece Fun Times in 2024. She is one of the artists in residence at L’Arsenic in Lausanne and associate artist at CCN2 – Centre chorégraphique national de Grenoble (2023-2024).
