Biography

marce norbert hörler is a performer, visual artist and writer living and working between Berlin and Switzerland. Working with voice, scent, language and scores, their practice spans performance, installation, textiles and fragrance, approaching the body’s sensory capacities as a site of knowledge. Drawing on linguistic research, the folk traditions of the Eastern Alps and an extensive engagement with olfaction, their work explores systems of meaning-making, queer forms of evidence, and the capacity of language to produce worlds.

They studied at the FHNW Academy of Art and Design in Basel, HEAD – Genève, and the Dutch Art Institute in Arnhem. Awarded the Manor Art Prize St. Gallen 2025, they presented a solo exhibition and a series of performances at the Kunstmuseum St. Gallen in 2025–26, followed by a performance at the Kunsthaus Bregenz in 2026. Their work has been exhibited and/or performed at Thur- und Neckerwege (Toggenburg), Audra Festival (Kaunas, Lithuania), Stadtgalerie Bern, the Mobilière Prize at Art Genève (2025), TaDA Spinnerei, Sitterwerk (St. Gallen), the Swiss Art Awards (Basel, 2024), the Swiss Performance Art Award at Kunsthaus Baselland, and the Kunstmuseum Appenzell (2023).
