Biography
Geumhyung Jeong is a South Korean artist based in Seoul whose practice spans performance, dance, choreography, theatre, video and installation. She explores the relationships between the human body and the objects that surround it through works drawing on contemporary dance, puppetry and the visual arts. As her body enters into physical dialogue with objects, the boundary between the animate and the inanimate becomes increasingly ambiguous. Trained in theatre, dance and animation, she studied at Hoseo University in Asan, the Korea National University of Arts, and the Korean Academy of Film Arts in Seoul.
Her work has been presented at leading international festivals and institutions including the Holland Festival, ImPulsTanz (Vienna), Kunstenfestivaldesarts (Brussels), Kyoto Experiment, Tanz im August (Berlin), the Zürcher Theater Spektakel, Tate Modern (London), the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) (London), the Kunsthalle Basel, the New Museum (New York), and the Venice Biennale. She received the Hermès Foundation Missulsang Award in 2016. In 2026, she presented an exhibition at the Collection Lambert in Avignon and a performance at STUK in Leuven.
