Aurélien Dougé

Biography

Aurélien Dougé is a dancer, performer, choreographer and visual artist, born in Angers, France, in 1986. He lives and works in Geneva. After training at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon (CNSMD), he performed with several European companies, including the Ballet of the Grand Théâtre de Genève. In 2016, following his participation in the International Summer Program at the Watermill Center in New York, directed by Robert Wilson, he embarked on an independent artistic practice. Since then, he has collaborated with artists including choreographer Cindy Van Acker and theatre director Romeo Castellucci. His work explores the dialogue between body and matter. Micro-events and everyday physical phenomena, often overlooked, become the starting point for an artistic investigation that unfolds at the intersection of live performance and contemporary art. Through pared-back formats—including performances, installations and films—he creates perceptual situations that invite sustained attention and a heightened experience of time. His work has been presented in art centres, museums and theatres including Pavillon ADC (Geneva), Les SUBS (Lyon), CNDC (Angers), Atelier de Paris – CDCN, Le Lieu Unique (Nantes), Dancing CDCN (Dijon), La Bâtie – Festival de Genève, Artocène – Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc Biennale of Contemporary Art, Maison des Arts – Centre d’Art Contemporain (Malakoff), and Matera 2019 – European Capital of Culture.
