Anan Atoyama

Biography

Anan Atoyama is a choreographer and interdisciplinary artist whose work creates spaces in which the body becomes a unique site of perception and inquiry. Her practice cultivates a subtle ecosystem where cultural, physical and imaginative diversity converge to generate collective forms of expression. Following her first solo work, presented at the Dance Hakushu Festival in Japan in 2008, she created works including Black Rain, Madness, Love & Mysticism (with music by John Zorn), Hidden Body (with Keiji Haino) and Limpid Sun, among others. Since 2020, she has developed collective real-time creations that bring together art and science through her “live participatory creation” methodology. Her work has been presented at the Setouchi Triennale (Japan) and the Festival Contre-Sens (Lyon). The premiere of Atlas des Souffles was presented at the National Museum of the History of Immigration at the Palais de la Porte Dorée in Paris in 2026.
