Over the last twenty years, Jérôme Leuba has been developing a body of work entitled #battlefield. These “battlefields” combine different media, including “living sculptures”, performative works that he stages in selected public spaces. Deceptively simple, these stagings question our social codes, play with our perception of the world, and shift the boundaries between reality and representation.
The battlefield #130 living sculpture offers viewers the chance to experience the gaze, its own existence, and the presence of other bodies.

“Bodies lead, move, and organise themselves.
They modify the space around them and create a distance between us.
We pay attention to the frames of experience, where art meets life.
Each body has a unique and collective history.
It is a media vector.
Every body engages me.
Every gaze involves me.”
