Biography
Carole Douillard’s performance work, which features documents, films, stories, and photographs, has been presented at MAC/VAL in Vitry-sur-Seine, Galerie Kamel Mennour, Galerie Michel Rein, Institut Giacometti, Palais de Tokyo, Fondation d’entreprise Ricard in Paris, LACE in Los Angeles, T2G Théâtre de Gennevilliers, Oslo Biennial (2019), Lyon Biennial (2017), Musée de la danse Rennes, Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo Madrid.
Since 2019, she has been conducting research in Los Angeles, on the one hand on American writer and essayist Susan Sontag (1933-2004), and on the other on a repertoire of the history of gestures and performance in Southern California from the 1960s to the present day. She has published an interview with American artists Barbara T. Smith and Suzanne Lacy and art historian Amelia Jones (Ed. Zérodeux/Presses du réel, 2022).
