Biography
Lucas Niggli is a versatile drummer and percussionist whose musical practice spans jazz, rock and free improvisation. He performs in a wide range of ensembles, including Steamboat Switzerland (with Dominik Blum and Marino Pliakas), Biondini – Godard – Niggli, Kalo Yele (with Aly Keïta), and duos with Charlotte Hug and Matthias Loibner. He also collaborates with Andreas Schaerer in the group A Novel of Anomaly. Niggli has premiered works by composers such as Michael Wertmüller, Olga Neuwirth, David Dramm, Helena Winkelmann and Barry Guy. His international touring has taken him from Donaueschingen to Cape Town, and from Vancouver to the Lucerne Festival. He currently teaches improvisation at ZHdK in Zurich.
